First Viscount Montgomery of Alamein. British army officer who during World War II commanded the British victories over German forces in North Africa (1942) and the Allied advance through Normandy (1944). Vintage glossy 10.5 x 13.5 full-length photo of Montgomery arriving in Halifax in the late summer of 1946, for a visit to Canada, signed in fountain pen, “Montgomery of Alamein Field Marshal.” In fine condition, with some scattered light creases and surface marks, not affecting signature or overall image, and some traces of scattered light silvering. Certainly the largest signed Montgomery photo we have seen and offered, which will garner any military enthusiast’s “attention.” R&R COA.
