Vintage 11 x 8.5 formal photo of the entire Warren Court taken in January of 1968, signed in the lower border in ink and ballpoint by all nine Justices: Earl Warren, Abe Fortas, John M. Harlan, Potter Stewart, Hugo Black, Byron White, William O. Douglas, Thurgood Marshall and William J. Brennan. In very fine condition, with a slight and subtle touch of border toning. As Chief Justice, Warren’s term of office was marked by numerous rulings affecting, among other things, the legal status of racial segregation, civil rights, separation of church and state, and police arrest procedure in the United States.
