Description

“It is a place waiting for scouting”: Baden-Powell recruits leaders for a new Boy Scout troop

Founder of the Boy Scouts. ALS, two pages, 4.5 x 7, March 18, 1927. Baden-Powell writes to a scouting associate with news of a new location ready for a troop. In part: “Should it ever come in to your interest, it is a place waiting for scouting. Lots of boys wanting it. And a hostel for poor whites where it would be useful.… Dr. Black, an ex Boy Scout ... strongly recommends Mr. Duncker a master in the school as particularly keen and capable and a real boy’s man. And also Mr. Tarr ditto and a bachelor.” In very good condition, with central horizontal mailing fold and scattered toning and foxing. JSA/John Reznikoff Auction LOA and RRAuction COA.
