Deluged and wishing to limit the practice of autographing items, Rockwell asks that his correspondent “Explain to your children that I am terribly sorry.”

Lot of two items includes: a TLS dated July 20, 1976, on his personal stationery, which reads, in full: “I appreciate very much your letter but requests for autographs of this kind have just overwhelmed me and I must curtail the practice. I hope that you will explain to your children that I am terribly sorry.” The second item is an FDC honoring City Mail Delivery, signed and inscribed “My best to Bernard Harris, Jr., Sincerely, Norman Rockwell.” In fine condition.
