A year after attending the dedication of her husband’s famous tomb in New York City, Julia Grant seeks the company of friends

Wife of President Ulysses S. Grant and First Lady from 1869 to 1877. ALS signed “Julia D. Grant,” two pages in pencil on two black-bordered adjoining sheets, 4 x 6, May 5, 1898. The former First Lady extends an invitation to Mrs. Creswell. In full: “Will you and your sister Miss MacIntyre, come this evening and dine with me very informally at seven o’clock. I will have only two others, Mrs. Pasez and Mrs. Dent. I hope that you will give me this pleasure as I want so much to see you and I want too, to tell you why I have not seen you before.” In fine condition, with usual mailing fold.
