Description

Amin writes to the Deputy Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia looking for aid and defending his policies, “My subsequent actions from 1971 drew hostile, political and economic measures aimed at undermining Uganda and its example in Africa. I refer to our kicking out all Israelis in April 1972.”

TLS signed “Idi Amin Dada,” seven pages, 8 x 13, Republic of Uganda letterhead, March 12, 1975. Letter to Prince Fahad Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior in Saudi Arabia, discussing Uganda’s domestic and foreign problems, seeking financial aid from Saudi Arabia, and proposing collaboration in several economic projects. In part, “Our stand, as you may know, has drawn a lot of ill-will from the enemies that do not wish to see the full realization [sic] of African unity, Afro-Arab solidarity, and indeed peace and progress throughout the world…With the full support of the entire people of Uganda and the Government, my subsequent actions from 1971 drew hostile, political and economic measures aimed at undermining Uganda and its example in Africa. I refer to our kicking out all Israelis in April 1972; and non-citizens monopolizing trade and economic activities who had purely bitter interests and who for years resisted to take up Uganda citizenship at the end of 1972.” In fine condition, with punch and staple holes to left edge and corner and a bisecting horizontal mailing fold. R&R COA.
