Description

Even Ty Cobb paid to have the garbage removed

Nicknamed "The Georgia Peach", he was an American baseball player considered to be the greatest player of the "Deadball Era" (1900-1920), and perhaps of all time. When he retired he was the holder of 90 major league records and he was among the first players elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936. Personal check, 8.25 x 3, filled out by Cobb and signed “Tyrus R. Cobb,” payable to Menlo Park Garbage Co. for $6, November 6, 1951. In fine condition, with usual bank cancellation holes and stamps, with a faint stamp touching the very beginning of the signature. COA Steve Grad/PSA/DNA, COA Mike Gutierrez/Global, and R&R COA.
