AKA Weegee, Arthur Fellig (1899-1968) was one of photography's most important and influential photojournalists. His nickname supposedly comes from the Ouija board, whose powers of divination he claimed to share. His photographs have been exhibited widely in the US and Europe. They are in the collections of major museums around the world. In part: 'Hello dear - I hope you got the right 35MM metal box of slides as I have to have the slides for my lecture TRIP. The book is progressing, but in the usual slow English way. The Guild thing is not active now, but not dead - I am after of course for new business. The Russian angle doesn't worry me, there is a new feeling towards Russia - The Iron Curtain has now become a Silken Curtain. That's about all.' Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, in Weegee's hand. He has also signed 'Weegee' on the reverse above the return address. The envelope is postmarked 2 October 1963. In fine condition.
