Novelist considered one of the preeminent writers to emerge from the American South in the years between the world wars. The term Southern Gothic was coined to characterize his dark, brooding vision of the South's decaying way of life. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1950. Signed book: A Fable. NY: Random House, 1954. Hardcover with slipcase, 6 x 8.5, 437 pages. Signed in fountain pen on the limitations page indicating that this is a limited edition of 1000 copies, this one numbered 304.
