Rommel presents the War Service Cross

German field Marshall, nicknamed The Desert Fox for his tactical genius as Commander of the Afrika Korps. In 1944 he was implicated in a plot to assassinate Hitler; given the choice of suicide or trial, he took poison. DS, signed 'Rommel,' one page, 8.25 x 10.5, April 23, 1942. An informal award document, in German, for the War Service Cross, 2nd Class with Swords presented to August Fuchs. In fine condition, with two punch holes to right edge and light overall toning.
