Scarce unissued official participation diploma from the London 1908 Olympics, 17.25 x 11.75, featuring a drawing by English artist Bernard Partridge of the Goddess Nike seated and holding a laurel wreath crown, with text reading: “Olympic Games, London 1908, Diploma of Merit, Awarded to…for…By the British Olympic Council.” The lower portion bears a facsimile signature of William Grenfell, 1st Baron Desborough, president of the British Olympic Council. In very good condition, with tape-repaired tears, heavy toning, creases, and edgewear.
