Partly-printed vellum DS, one page, 10.25 x 14.25, October 30, 1841. Scallop-topped ship’s pass issued for the "Ship Governor Troup of New Bedford, Gilbert H. Jenney master or commander…navigated with 29 men, To Pass with her Company, Passengers, Goods and Merchandize without any hinderance, seisure or molestation, the said Ship appearing by good testimony to belong to one or more of the Citizens of the United States." Boldly signed at the conclusion by President John Tyler and countersigned by Secretary of State Daniel Webster. The embossed white paper seal affixed to the lower left is cracked but intact. Cloth-matted and framed with an engraved plaque to an overall size of 18.25 x 23. In very good to fine condition, with scattered light staining, and fading to the handwritten portions of text; both signatures remain bold.
