Eminent and prolific Russian composer (1891–1953) best known for his colorful, rhythmically vigorous works, including symphonies, operas, and much music for keyboard and chamber ensembles. AMQS on a light pink 6.25 x 5.5 album page, neatly titled, signed, and dated below in fountain pen by Prokofiev, "Gavotte, op. 12, Serge Prokofieff, 1930." Prokofiev pens a brief passage from "Gavotte, op. 12," a part of his 'Ten Pieces for Piano.' Also signed below in fountain pen by his wife, "Lina Llubera Prokofieff, 13 Marzo 1930, Habana." In very good to fine condition, with light show-through from some unrelated signatures on the back. Prokofiev played the Gavotte as an encore following the Moscow premiere of his First Concerto in March 1912, a practice he would continue in many of his subsequent concerts and recitals.
