Description

Partly-printed DS as secretary of state, signed “J. Q. Adams,” one page, 7.75 x 9.75, July 24, 1822. Department of State certificate, which reads: “Thomas Corcoran and John Peter, whose names are subscribed to the annexed Instrument of writing, are, and were, at the time of signing the same, justices of the Peace for Washington County in the District of Columbia, and that full faith is due to all their acts as such.” Signed boldly at the conclusion in John Quincy Adams. The lower left bears the stamped "Secretary of State Office" seal. Affixed by its top edge to a slightly larger cardstock mount and in very good to fine condition, with folds and creases, and tears and small areas of paper loss along the edges.
