Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Virginia (1726–1791) who was the father of President William Henry Harrison and great-grandfather of President Benjamin Harrison. Revolutionary War-dated partly-printed DS, signed “Benj. Harrison,” one page, 7 x 7, May 10, 1782. As Governor of Virginia, Benjamin Harrison, “on recommendation from the court of the county of Augusta,” appoints Samuel Lewis, William Tate, Henry Miller, Robert Cunningham, and John Cunningham as justice of the peace for the said country. Signed neatly at the conclusion by Harrison. The original off-white paper seal remains affixed below. In fine condition.
