President Lincoln commissions a "Commissary of Subsistence of Volunteers" for the Union Army in 1863

Civil War-dated partly-printed vellum DS as president, one page, 13.5 x 17.25, March 10, 1863. President Lincoln appoints Joel B. Nott as "Commissary of Subsistence of Volunteers, with the rank of Captain." Neatly signed at the conclusion in ink by President Abraham Lincoln, and countersigned Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton. The green seal affixed to the upper left remains intact. Mounted and double-matted with a portrait and plaque to an overall size of 28 x 24.5. In very good to fine condition, with overall heavy wrinkling due to the nature of the vellum, a few small areas of paper loss, and some scattered stains.
