Description

Amazing stage-used pair of black Sheila E. signature drum sticks by Vic Firth, 16.25? in length, which were purportedly used by Prince during the filming of the 1987 concert film Sign o' the Times. Prince takes over drumming duties from Sheila E. during the song ‘It's Gonna Be a Beautiful Night’ and can be seen handling a pair of black drum sticks, which were the only pair of that shade used in the film. In fine condition.

Accompanied by a signed letter of authenticity from Matthew Quast, who worked as a production film sound mixer and playback operator on the Prince films Purple Rain, Sign o' the Times, and Graffiti Bridge. He writes: “This pair of black custom reverse-monogrammed Sheila E. drumsticks were, I believe (it was 37 years ago!), played by Prince during the song ‘It's Gonna Be a Beautiful Night’ for the concert film Sign O' the Times which we shot entirely on the Paisley Park sound stage. In the film, at approximately the 1hr 6min mark, Prince takes over Sheila's kit to start drumming and she begins rapping. They are the only pair of black drumsticks to appear in the film…When we completed principal photography on the film, I asked Sheila if I could have them as a memento from the film and she said ‘Sure!’”
