(Walt Disney Studios, 1953) Outstanding original concept storyboard painting by Mary Blair of Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, and Wendy Darling at the beginning of Peter Pan. Accomplished in tempera and watercolor on 9.75 x 9.75 artist’s board, the scene shows Peter and Tinker Bell on the roof of the Darling family’s London house, with Wendy emerging excitedly from the open full-length French window. Blair captures the magic and wonder of the moment with great care and detail, with Peter Pan (and his shadow) seated coolly as Tinker Bell zips about, leaving a glowing trail of fairy dust across the night sky and its backdrop of moonlit buildings. In fine condition, with tack holes to corners.
Blair was a concept artist for Disney during the 1940s and early 1950s, working on designs for such films as Peter Pan, Cinderella, and Alice in Wonderland. She also created designs for several Disney attractions, including It's a Small World, and, her largest work, the multi-story mosaic in Disney World's Contemporary Hotel concourse.
