Theologian, humanitarian, and physician (1875–1965) remembered for establishing a hospital in Lambarene, Gabon, and for receiving the 1952 Nobel Peace Prize for his philosophy of 'Reverence for Life.' Ink signature, "Albert Schweitzer,” on an off-white 3 x 1.75 presentation tag, who adds a handwritten inscription in French above, in part (translated): "This is an ebony sculpture from Lambarene done by the blacks at the hospital. Please accept this in remembrance of me." In fine condition.
