Princess of Hohenberg (1868–1914) who was the wife of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne. Their assassination in Sarajevo sparked a series of events that led, four weeks later, to World War I. Rare ALS in German, signed " Furstin Hohenberg," one page both sides, 4.25 x 3.5, monogrammed stationery card, April 12, 1904. An untranslated handwritten letter from Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg. In fine condition, with light soiling. Sophie of Hohenberg is considerably rare across all signed formats, with this letter, desirably penned on her personal letterhead, representing our very first example.
