Distinguished Romanian-born playwright (1909-1994) best known as a leading figure in the 'Theatre of the Absurd.' ALS in French, signed “Gene Ionesco,” one page, 5.25 x 8.25, May 31, 1971. Addressed from Paris, a handwritten letter to a friend, in part (translated): “Thank you for the letters, for the photos and for everything, and for Marie-France.” Ionesco adds a short postscript: “Congratulations on your promotion.” In very good to fine condition, with overall creasing.
