Apple Records UK pressing of the John Lennon and Yoko Ono single ‘Instant Karma / Who Has Seen the Wind,’ signed in black felt tip on the sleeve, “Peace from, John Lennon” and “+ Yoko Ono.” In fine condition, with a trivial brush to the first letter of the sentiment, and paper loss to the upper right corner tip. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from a nurse at the London Clinic, which reads: “This single was given to me from my aunt who lived in London when visiting her back in 1970/1971. At that time, she was living in Crystal Palace with her partner who was a male nurse working in one of the London Hospitals, but do not know which one, but he did treat a lot of famous stars there I was told. My Aunt knew I was a Beatles fan and gifted me the single and told me it was given to her partner when he treated John Lennon in the Hospital and on John's release signed about a dozen of these singles and handed them to the staff who had looked after him.”
Given past signed examples of ‘Instant Karma,’ the hospital in question is very likely The London Clinic. Recorded by Lennon while technically still a member of the Beatles, 'Instant Karma' was recorded on January 27, 1970, and released a little more than a week later, making it one of the fastest-released songs in music history. Although it is unknown exactly who was being treated in the hospital, it is well-documented that Lennon never left Ono's side during an emergency blood transfusion during her pregnancy in late 1969.
