Two items: an ALS signed "Much love, John," three pages on two adjoining sheets, 6.25 x 8, June 7, [no year], to George Patton's sister, Anne Wilson Patton, to whom Pershing was engaged, in part: "Your note from Liverpool was something of a surprise. Probably I should have guessed, but I am not good at guessing. Anyway you are here, and I hope I can see you before too long. Everything is so very unsettled that one cannot count on what is going to happen even one day ahead. There is some chance of my going to London about the 25th as I am to receive the degree (honorary) of D.C.L.—and possibly also the official visit may be pulled off then…Possibly I might get you on the phone. If you will call up General Biddle's office you can connect with me in Paris"; and an ink signature, "John J. Pershing," on an off-white 3.5 x 2.5 card. In overall fine condition.
