General in the Continental Army during the American Revolution and later governor of South Carolina (1730-1805). Partly-printed DS, signed “Will'm Moultrie,” one page, 16 x 13.5, January 16, 1794. As governor of South Carolina, Moultrie grants David Coulter "a plantation or tract of land, containing One thousand Acres…Situate in the District of Orangeburgh." The survey document, featuring a hand-drawn map of the parcel, is tied to the bottom of the document with a pink ribbon. Neatly signed along the lower margin by Governor William Moultrie. In very good, with scattered creasing, staining, and partial splits to folds.
