Exquisite circa 1870s hand-colored 7 x 9 wood engraving on wove paper of 'The Trial of the Knave of Hearts for (Allegedly) Stealing the Jam Tarts,' after John Tenniel, nicely signed on the reverse in purple ink by the author of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll, using his real name, "C. L. Dodgson." In fine condition. A wonderful imagining of the famous scene from Alice in Wonderland, signed by the book's famous author. Extremely rare in this format.
