King George III appoints an ensign in the "Atholl Highlanders"

Partly-printed vellum DS, signed “George R,” one page, 13.75 x 9.75, January 22, 1783. King George III appoints John Mackay "to be Ensign to that Company…in our seventy seventh regiment of foot, or Atholl Highlanders, commanded by…Major General James Murray." Prominently signed at the head by King George III. The embossed white paper seal remains intact. In fine condition, with light soiling, and the signature light but entirely legible.
