Appealing 12.5″-long gavel crafted from wood removed from the Yorktown Tavern, with an engraved silver identification plaque on the head: "Presented to Mrs. Richard Jackson Barker, Honorary State Regent of R.I.D.A.R., Former Vice President General, National Society D.A.R., at Yorktown, Virginia, April 1923, Live Oak From Original Sill From Old English Tavern built 1725, Washington, LaFayette & Cornwallis all Stayed at this Tavern." In fine condition, with minor tarnishing to the plaque. Consignor notes that this came from the collection of Eliza Harris Lawton Barker, a former Vice President General of the National D.A.R.
