Description

Apollo Command Module Environmental Control System (ECS) Coolant Pump, measuring 8.25″ x 5″ x 4.75″ and weighing 13 lbs, featuring a pair of Airesearch Manufacturing parts labels for “Motor AC,” with NASA number “004000055111,” and “Pump Motor…Glycol-Water”; both labels bear extensive scratching, rendering them nearly indecipherable. In fine condition, with scattered scuffs. The ECS Coolant Pump was used to circulate a special coolant, typically a mixture of water and ethylene glycol, through the spacecraft's environmental control system. This coolant helped in transferring heat away from various components and systems within the spacecraft, preventing them from overheating. The Coolant Pump played a crucial role in maintaining a stable and comfortable environment inside the spacecraft, which was essential for the astronauts' well-being during their missions, especially during the critical phases of launch, re-entry, and while in space. Proper temperature and humidity control were crucial to ensure the functionality of onboard systems and the health of the crew.
