Description

Souvenir copy of "General Orders No. 69" issued September 20, 1945, one page, 8.5 x 11, awarding the silver star to the crew of the Enola Gay for "gallantry in action while engaged in aerial flight against the Japanese Empire on 6 August 1945. These individuals were combat crew members of the B-29 aircraft which flew from a base in the Marianas Islands to drop on the city of Hiroshima, Japan, the first atomic bomb to be used in warfare." Signed in blue felt tip by Paul W. Tibbets, Dutch Van Kirk, and Morris R. Jeppson. In fine condition, with a PSA/DNA label affixed to the lower right corner. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.
