Canadian-born physician and researcher (1849-1919) who was a founding professor of Johns Hopkins Hospital, widely regarded as the 'Father of Modern Medicine' for his pioneering work in medical assessment, diagnosis, and education. ALS signed “W. Osler,” one page on a 4.25 x 3.25 postcard, September 22, 1909. Handwritten letter to Hampton L. Carson, in full: "Many thanks—bon voyage. Greetings to the family. Tell the young Doctor to come and see me when he starts his Wanderjahr. I hope at last to see him in the faculty of the U[niversity] of P[ennsylvania]." Handsomely double-matted and framed with a portrait to an overall size of 15 x 10.5; a window in the backing allows viewing of the address side. In fine condition, with a small dampstain touching a couple of words of text.
