King of the Belgians (1875-1934) who reigned from December 23, 1909, until his death in 1934. Popularly known as the Knight King or Soldier King, in reference to his role during World War I, he ruled during an eventful period in the history of Belgium, which included the period of World War I and the adoption of the Treaty of Versailles. Uncommon vintage sepia matte-finish 8.25 x 11.5 photo of Albert I of Belgium in his military uniform by the photography studio of Richard N. Speaight, signed nicely in the lower border in fountain pen, "Albert." The lower portion is also signed in pencil by the studio. In fine condition.
