Description

Belgian author (1903-1989) best known for his Inspector Maigret detective novels. Four signed items: a satin-finish 5.5 x 4.25 photo of Simenon smoking his pipe, signed and inscribed in black felt tip; a TLS on a personal correspondence card, October 8, 1987, regarding the 1949 film The Man on the Eiffel Tower, in part: "I am in complete agreement with your opinion as to Charles Laughton impersonating Maigret, although I had a great admiration for his talent…Franchot Tone was perfect as Radek"; a Christmas and New Year's card for 1988, signed inside in black felt tip; and a first American edition of Maigret at the Coroner's, hardcover with dust jacket, signed and inscribed on the first free end page in blue felt tip by Simenon. In fine condition. Accompanied by three original mailing envelopes.
