Unique metal-and-plastic hand-made presentation statue commemorating the Sputnik 1, the world's first artificial satellite. The statue measures 5" in height and 8.5" in length, and shows Sputnik supported by a ray of red plastic, which is set atop a polished metal globe showing the Soviet Union with engraved text, "CCCP." The statue impressively invokes Sputnik 1's majestic and historic launch from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on October 4, 1957. In fine condition, with light scuffing to base.
