Duval Esq. were duly received I was informed upon inquiry that he would probably be here last month, but presume there is no prospect of his coming after this date…It would give me great pleasure to transact any business for and might perhaps elicit upon the subject of your claims at the War Department—but it may be that he has made progress in the business and has evidence in his own possession—I feel bound to state that Mr. Duval has made use of my name without any authority from me."
