Very early ALS signed “F. Pierce,” one page, 8 x 8, May 31, 1830. Handwritten letter by the 25-year-old Franklin Pierce to William Whittman in Greenfield, New Hampshire, written from Francestown. In part: "Your note of Saturday was received—you may direct White to dig…as you proposed. So says my Father—My Father will write you in a few days, and send the certificate desired." He adds a handwritten postscript: "I hope you will not fail to visit Concord during the week." In very good condition, with trimmed edges, light staining, and paper loss to the lower right.
