TLS signed “Joe Kennedy,” one page, 8 x 10.5, Embassy of the United States of America letterhead, April 23, 1940. Letter to Sidney R. Kent, in part: "I humbly apologize for my delay in thanking you for the beautiful white azalea plant you sent to the boat…It was such a beautiful plant that I tried to sell the authorities the idea of allowing me to take it off with me, or, if that wouldn't do, to send it back on the boat to Mrs. Kennedy, but I found that once the plant was on the ship, it couldn't be taken off at either end." Affixed to a larger scrapbook page. In very good to fine condition, with one short fold split, and wrinkling to the top from mounting.
