TLS signed “Bob,” one page, 6.25 x 8.25, United States Senate letterhead, October 19, 1966. Letter to Thomas J. McTiernan of the FBI, in full: "I am sure that you were pleased, as I was, that the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed the conviction in the Hoffa case. That prosecution was successful because of your efforts, and you should be proud of your achievement." RFK signs a second time in the lower left, "My thanks, Bob." In very good to fine condition, with heavy edge toning, and a stain to the bottom edge. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. Kennedy is remembered for his relentless crusade against corruption and organized crime, and Teamsters president Jimmy Hoffa was one of the principal figures in his sights. In 1964, Hoffa was convicted on charges of fraud and conspiracy involving the union's pension fund; the conviction was upheld on appeal in 1966.
