Description

Swedish diplomat, economist, and author (1905-1961) who served as secretary general of the United Nations from 1953 until his death in a plane crash; he is one of just three people to be awarded a posthumous Nobel Prize. TLS in Swedish, one page, 6 x 9, Secretary-General letterhead, July 9, 1953. Brief letter to Helga Stromberg thanking her for sending two poetry collections: 'From Sunlight Beaches' and 'Dromda Worlds.' In fine condition, with light creasing along the lower mailing fold.
