"I am down here at Warm Springs enjoying a little rest preparatory to taking up the duties of my office"

TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, November 24, 1928. Written from Warm Springs, Georgia, a letter to Mary D. Walker, in full: "Very many thanks for your telegram of congratulations. It was mighty good of you to think of me. I am down here at Warm Springs enjoying a little rest preparatory to taking up the duties of my office on January first." In fine condition. On the referral of presidential candidate and former New York Governor Al Smith, Roosevelt joined the democratic ticket in the 1928 New York state election and defeated Albert Ottinger in the race for governor.
