TLS, one page, 8 x 10.5, State of New York Executive Chamber letterhead, November 28, 1930. Letter to Charles Belknap, in full: "Ever so many thanks for that nice letter. It was a wonderful victory for the entire ticket." FDR adds a handwritten postscript: "Do let me know if you come to Albany." In fine condition. The 1930 elections were held shortly after the start of the Great Depression, and Republicans suffered substantial losses: New York Governor Franklin D. Roosevelt's landslide re-election established him as the front-runner for the 1932 Democratic nomination, and the Democrats took control of the House of Representatives by gaining 52 seats.
