Autograph poem entirely in the hand of Kate Douglas Wiggin, one page, 4.25 x 7, August 1891. Wiggin transcribes a playful verse which was apparently composed about her by James Whitcomb Riley, given the inscription, "To The Author of 'Timothy's Quest' from the author of 'The Gobble-un's'll Git You!," and credit at the bottom, "J. W. R." In full: "Mrs. Kate Douglas Wiggin, despite her / Proud claim as a clever prose writer, / Was yet a fanatical / Epigrammatical / Verse-anarchist & inciter / So one time a sure-enough poet, / Who wanted Mis' Wiggin to know it / Grabbed up a pen-holder / And humped up one shoulder / And sat down & wro-et & wro-et!" In fine condition.
