Description

AQS on an off-white 4.5 x 2.5 slip, signed at the conclusion ink, "Very truly yours, James Whitcomb Riley, Indianapolis, Aug. 27, 1897." Riley pens a four-line verse from his poem 'Just As Of Old,' in full: "Lo! where is the beginning, where the end / Of living, loving, longing? Listen, friend!— / God answers with a silence of pure gold— / Just as of old." In fine condition, with light rippling from mounting on the reverse.
