Uncommon grouping of a handwritten letter from Prince’s half-sister Sharon Blakley and four cassette tapes relating to Prince and his family. The ALS, signed “Sharon & Eleanor & John L.,” one page, 5.5 x 8.25, June 30, 1994, addressed to “Karen,” in part: “We miss you, Dad thanks you for remembering his Birthday. Best wishes to your mom from Dad. Hope you enjoy our new music.” Included is a cassette of the EP Father’s Song by John L., Prince’s father John L. Nelson, which the consignor notes was mailed with the letter. The other tapes are as follows: a Sony cassette tape with A side label marked “‘The Family’ & ‘The Purple Party Mix!,’” and the B side label marked, “Madhouse 26,” with insert marked “Prince” and listing contents to both sides; a TDK cassette tape with inner sleeve marked “John L. Nelson” and “Sounds of Minnesota”; and a TDK cassette tape with A side label marked “Moses Nelso,” and inner sleeve with typed track titles: ‘Chapter 15,’ ‘Daughter,’ ‘(Moses),’ ‘Joshus,’ ‘Manasseh,’ and ‘Ach’sah.’ In overall fine condition. From the collection of Prince’s former assistant and accompanied by a letter of provenance.
