One of Napoleon's marshals who was a close personal friend, renowned as one of the most daring and talented generals in the French army (1769-1809). Scarce partly-printed DS, in French, signed “Lannes,” one page, 9.25 x 7, December 10, 1805. A pay receipt, in part (translated): "I subscribe Marshal of the Empire, commander-in-chief of the 5th Army Corps, recognizes that he received from M. Regain, Payer of the Grand Army, the sum of two thousand one hundred and sixty francs for a forage indemnity during the first quarter of the year." In fine condition, with some light foxing and creasing.
