(Walt Disney Studios/Whitman Publishing, 1960s) Original hand-painted Sleeping Beauty artwork by Al Andersen for Whitman Publishing, showing Briar Rose and Prince Phillip surrounded by animals as they stroll through a woodland meadow. Accomplished in gouache on an 11 x 14 illustration board, and signed in the lower right corner, "Al Andersen." In fine condition. In the 1950s and 1960s, mid-century artist Al Andersen was recruited by Little Golden Books and Whitman to illustrate children's stories starring characters from the classic Disney, Hanna-Barbera, and MGM films of the era.
