(Walt Disney Studios/Whitman Publishing, 1960s) Original hand-painted Sleeping Beauty artwork by Al Anderson for Whitman Publishing, showing Prince Phillip leaning over to kiss Briar Rose, with the three Fairy Godmothers and castle in the background. Accomplished in gouache on an 11.75 x 13.75 illustration board, and signed at the bottom, "Al Anderson." In fine condition. In the 1950s and 1960s, mid-century artist Al Andersen was recruited by Little Golden Books and Whitman to illustrate children's stories starring characters from the classic Disney, Hanna-Barbera, and MGM films of the era. A highly appealing piece of original artwork.
