English poet (1774-1843) and writer of miscellaneous prose who is chiefly remembered for his association with Samuel Taylor Coleridge and William Wordsworth, both of whom were leaders of the early Romantic movement. ALS, one page, 7 x 8.75, no date. Letter to a friend, in part: "I am sorry that you have taken what I said more seriously than it was intended. My meaning was to let you know that the employment...has always been with me a matter of necessity, not of choice;—& that I have so conducted it as never to disturb my own feelings, nor to injure others." Matted and framed with an engraving to an overall size of 15.5 x 13. In very good condition, with intersecting folds, moderate overall toning, and some staining to the mat.
