Westminster Bank Limited check, 8.25 x 3.25, filled out and signed by Shaw, "G. Bernard Shaw," payable to the Ben Tillett Testimonial Fund for £5.5.0, August 16, 1936. In fine condition. Tillett was a British socialist, trade union leader, and politician, (1860-1943) who was a leader of the 'new unionism' of 1889 that focused on organizing unskilled workers. He played a major role in founding the Dockers Union, and was as a leader in the 1911 and 1912 dock strikes.
