Description

Merchant and yachtsman (1848-1931) who created the Lipton tea brand and was the most persistent challenger in the history of the America's Cup. Vintage matte-finish 8 x 10.5 half-length portrait of Lipton with his arms crossed and wearing his sailing uniform, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To my good friend—James D. Law, with best wishes, Yrs. Faithfully, Thomas J. Lipton, 18th Aug. 1920.” Double-matted and framed to an overall size of 12 x 15. In fine condition.
