Description

Harry Blackstone

Renowned American magician (1885–1965) who reached the peak of his popularity in the 1930s and 1940s. Two items: a personal check, 6 x 2.75, filled out and signed by Blackstone, payable to Ideal Photo Corp for $61.71, May 5, 1950; and a vintage glossy 7.75 x 10 photo of Blackstone set to perform a card trick, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To ‘Radner,’ Just a horsethief, from another, Harry Blackstone, 1943.” Check has show-through from bank stamps on reverse and expected cancellation holes (affecting the first name of the signature); and the photo has some trivial surface creases and moderate contrast to signature and inscription against the dark background, otherwise overall fine condition. Accompanied by a flier for a series of performances by Blackstone over the course of four nights at the Farris Lounge in Winnemucca, Nevada. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
